I Never Outgrew Cartoons

People sometimes talk about cartoons and video games like they’re things you’re supposed to leave behind once you grow up.

I never saw it that way.

I’m a ’90s kid. Those characters, ridiculous stories, game worlds and art styles were part of what made being a kid fun. Getting older didn’t make them less interesting. I started appreciating the imagination behind them, too.

Music became my creative outlet, but it never replaced those interests. That’s part of why Boss Affiliated isn’t limited to a microphone or an album cover. It gives me room to bring different sides of myself into one place.

I don’t need everything I enjoy to look serious to have meaning.

Sometimes a cartoon is just funny. Sometimes a game is just a game. And sometimes the things you loved before you knew who you’d become are still worth making room for.

Growing up shouldn’t mean throwing your imagination away.
